How to Register at login.gov
Tips for registering at login.gov
GSA has started requiring SAM registrants to use a login.gov account as an increased security measure on SAM.gov. Login.gov accounts provide a multi-point verification for users keeping all business information stored on sam.gov much safer.
- The login.gov account needs to use the same email as your current sam.gov registration
- You will receive an email verification link on this email account
- A second security verification by either a cell phone or a landline phone is required to complete your registration
The process to create the login.gov account only takes a few minutes. The directions listed map the process from beginning to completion for account registration.

Once at login.gov home page, click manage account.
On the sign in page, click create account at the bottom right.
Enter the same email address on your SAM.gov registration. Your new login.gov account will be linked with your SAM.gov account.
Enter a password with at least 9 characters, upper and lower case letter, one number and one special character.
Provide a cell phone or landline number for security verification.
A text message or a phone call will give you a security code. Use the code within 10 minutes
A personal key will pop up. Make sure you print or write down your personal key so you can access your account in case of future login issues.
A confirmation page with all your registration information is the final step in creating a login.gov account. It is a good idea to keep a copy of this page.
