Everything you’ll need to know to begin

The System for Award Management (SAM) is the system the U.S. government uses to identify and award federal contracts, loans, grants, or federal assistance.

The SAM registry serves as a central repository for Procurement and Contract Officers to identify vendor capabilities, demographics, and availability. This assists procurement decision-making regarding set-asides for 8(a), HUBZone, woman-owned, or service-disabled-veteran-owned small businesses. This also provides a platform for prime contractors to identify subcontractors according to their needs and contract requirements. Non-profit organizations and local, county, city, and state governments must be registered in SAM to receive federal disbursements against contracts, loans, grants, and federal assistance awards.

The federal government requires an annual SAM registration renewal. You can click on the following www.federalfiling.com to begin your renewal process. Once you submit your request, you’ll be prompted to reach out to us to finalize the renewal. It should take us about 10 – 15 minutes on the phone with you; then, we’ll be able to complete the rest of the update.

You receive your CAGE code once you have registered yourself in SAM.gov; there is no separate process to obtain a CAGE code. A CAGE Code is a number that the government uses to identify your business specifically so they can pay you.

Yes, you can. SAM registrations are done via SAM.gov, and as long as you have the time and the information, you can do it yourself. As you are aware, though, the US Government has made what should be a straightforward process overly complicated. If you do not complete your registration 100% accurately the first time, you can run into real problems such as not getting paid or limiting your ability to win contracts.

There are many advantages of having a third party do your registration for you, but the most important ones are ensured accuracy, faster turn around times, and registration optimization. At Federal Filing, we get them done more quickly than businesses trying to register themselves, we make sure all of the entered information is accurate, and we make sure that your NAICS and PCS codes are just right. We go through and scrub your account for renewals to make sure everything is accurate, compliant, and optimized.

You receive your CAGE code once you have registered yourself in SAM.gov; there is no separate process to obtain a CAGE code. A CAGE Code is a number that the government uses to identify your business specifically so they can pay you.

All SAM accounts are being transferred to login.gov. It is a service that offers secure and private online access to government programs such as SAM. Additionally, with a login.gov account, you can sign into multiple government websites with the same email address and password.

This is currently FSD’s policy; we have no say in the matter. But they will delete the update if the memo is not sent.

Federal Filing is a private processing firm that deals exclusively with SAM registrations and renewals and certifications.

– This major object class includes an agency’s procurement of assets, including those that have lost value (depreciated). Some examples of assets, according to this definition, include equipment, land, physical structures, investments, and loans.

– A Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) is a method federal agencies use to make repeat purchases of supplies or services. – An identification code assigned to a specific financial assistance award by an agency for tracking purposes. FAIN stands for Federal Award Identification Number, though the digits may be both letters and numbers.
